Transformer Installation & Upgrades

Dry-type transformers for commercial and industrial spaces, sized, installed, and documented properly. Licensed, insured, and always with a free quote before we start, anywhere in Toronto or the GTA.

What we do

Plenty of commercial and industrial equipment doesn’t run on the voltage your building supplies. 600V distribution feeding 120/208V panels is the everyday example. A dry-type transformer bridges that gap, and getting it wrong shows up as nuisance tripping, overheating, or a unit that fails years early. We supply and install dry-type transformers in step-up and step-down configurations, replace aging or undersized units, and handle the feeders, overcurrent protection, and grounding that go with them.

We start with the load: what the transformer feeds now, what it might feed later, and what the nameplate math says it should be. From there it’s proper sizing, code-compliant clearances and ventilation, correctly sized primary and secondary protection, and a bonded, labelled installation filed with the ESA and inspected. Quotes are free and site visits are scheduled around your operations. New Season Electrical carries ECRA/ESA Licence #7019085, $5 million in liability insurance, and a 1-year workmanship warranty on every installation.

What's included

  • Dry-type transformer installs
  • Step-up / step-down configurations
  • Load calculations & sizing
  • Code-compliant clearances & venting

When to call us

  • New equipment needs a voltage your panels don’t supply
  • An existing transformer hums loudly, runs hot, or smells burnt
  • Fit-out drawings call for a transformer and you need it installed
  • Added machinery is pushing an old transformer past its rating
  • Your current unit is boxed in with no clearance or ventilation

How it works

Quote. Work. Warranty.

  1. Load review and quote

We review the connected load and your plans, confirm the required kVA, voltage, and configuration, and give you a free written quote covering the transformer, feeders, protection, and installation.

  2. Sized and installed right

We set the unit with code-required clearances and ventilation, run and terminate the primary and secondary feeders, size the overcurrent protection, and bond and label everything for inspection.

  3. Inspected and documented

The installation is filed with the ESA and inspected, and you get the documentation for your records, which is useful for landlords, insurers, and future work. All of it is covered by our 1-year workmanship warranty.

Common questions

How do you size a transformer?

By the load, not by guesswork. We add up the connected equipment on the secondary side, factor in what you plan to add, and select a kVA rating with sensible headroom. An undersized unit runs hot and dies early, while a badly oversized one wastes money and energy. Voltage, phase, and configuration come off your equipment nameplates and your building’s distribution. The sizing work is part of the free quote.

Can you replace a transformer without a long shutdown?

The changeover itself needs the affected circuits de-energized, but we do the preparation (mounting, feeder routing, protection) with your system live wherever it’s safe to, so the actual outage is short and scheduled when it hurts least, often overnight or on a weekend. You’ll know the outage window before you approve the quote. The work is filed with the ESA and inspected once complete.
